Vial Adapter

A vial adapter was designed, 3D printed, and molded in house. FEA and tolerance analyses were performed prior to prototyping to reduce component iterations. 3D printing was utilized for rapid component evaluation as well as for quick turn injection molds.

Approach

  • Design the component in Solidworks (CAD) and prep it for 3D printing and prototype-level molding
  • Perform basic FEA to confirm assumptions related to functionality
  • 3D print the component to get initial feedback on form and fit
  • 3D print molds to be used for prototype injection molding
  • Mold PC/ABS component and check functionality
